  9. This is the first wide-scale release of MR/2 with Boolean search logic.  
  10. There are several other significant changes that kept me from releasing 
  11. this version earlier.  I'm releasing this as v2.2.
  12.  
  13. EXISTING USERS NOTE:
  14.  
  15. VIRTUAL CONFERENCES - defined the old way, may not work correctly.  
  16. Specifically, if you have "String = " clauses that make use of the "\" 
  17. character as an "OR" operator AND if any of the strings contain embedded 
  18. spaces, you'll have to modify your VC definition to either use the NEW 
  19. logic OR simply wrap the entire search string between ""'s.  For 
  20. example, the old MR/2 would correctly handle:

  22.         String = TekRam\DC-6\DC6\Promise\Caching IDE
  23.  
  24. but with v2.14 and later, this would have to become:

  26.         String = "TekRam\DC-6\DC6\Promise\Caching IDE"

  29. MAJOR Changes introduced in v2.2 (since v2.1):

  32. o   New INI parameters:  FolderOrder, Usenet.  
  33.  
  34. o   Better conference sorting.  Faster and multiple-leveled.
  35.  
  36. o   Support for 5-digit conference number.
  37.  
  38. o   Boolean search logic.  Ands, Ors, Nots, parenthesis, case-sensitity 
  39.     all available.  Use keywords and/or conference names/numbers as 
  40.     search parameters.  Message area (e.g., Subject, Body, etc.,.) can 
  41.     be assigned to each word or group of words, if desired.

  43. o   Conference specifications by number OR wildcarded name match.

  45. o   Packing of VC Indices with the source packet via the SaveVCs.CMD 
  46.     file now included.

  48. o   New reply template sections: Usenet and NewUsenet.  Uses the INI 
  49.     parameter "Usenet" to determine when to use these templates.

  51. o   MUCH better handling of messages 32K, 64K and larger.  Only the 
  52.     first 64K of message is available for reading/searching, but ALL of 
  53.     the message can be saved to text files.  I've saved and successfully 
  54.     UUDecoded encoded binaries from messages as large as 200K in size.

  56. o   New replylog fixer utility (available upon request).

  58. o   Deferring message to the reply log is now available.

  60. o   Many smaller enhancements and changes.  Dozens of bug fixes.  See

  81. o   I have preliminary SOUP format support in an "external" form.  Write to
  82.     me if interested.  It's currently read-only (no support for replies,
  83.     yet).  This won't be actually released for awhile.  I assume a long
  84.     development process to "get it right".  It will be dependable 
  85.     and productive very soon, tho, for those that want to help "test".
  86.     I may also need sample packets created by utilities other than the
  87.     one's I am using.
